DredgeMore OverDrive++ - NOS 1995 & 2025

A new and improved Dredge OD Pedal is available now!

The DredgeMore Pedal is an ultra versatile overdrive/distortion pedal that has a few more features that the original one knob Dredge OD.  Way more knobs == Way more tonal variations!

This pedal uses an old Mil-Std 883B, hermetically sealed op-amp for the heart of the OD circuit.  I have about 100 of these parts left, and there is no easy way to find them these days from reliable sources.  I'll probably only build 80 of the 2025 units in total before diving into an update with non-obsolete parts.  Well, unless I find a cache of them somewhere, somehow. The NOS 1995 version is hand wired and built using boards that were sourced in 1995 and a Variable High Pass Filter I designed and built a few years ago.  Because of the scarcity of the original Dredge PC boards, this version is limited to 9 units of which 4 are already gone.

I assemble these units in my garage still, although now that garage is in Olympia WA and not Berkeley CA.  Some things that change really don't, do they.

Both versions can be ordered from the DredgeTone Reverb Site now!

Below are the descriptions of the DredgeMore Controls:

Gain: Sets the drive of the OD/Dist stage, controlling the amount of signal clipping.  It’s a logarithmic taper pot allowing some dynamic control of the overdrive when set at 1 o’clock or below.

TOP Switch:

0  = No Top Boost

1kHz = Top Boost @ ~ 1kHz

2kHz = Top Boost @ ~ 2kHz

LO CUT: Sets the lower cutoff frequency of the output stage High Pass Filter.  At full Counter Clockwise the cutoff is at ~80 Hz and essentially out for a guitar. At full Clockwise, the low frequency cutoff is at ~1.6kHz, and well, that can be pretty interesting.

LEVEL: Sets the overall level of the pedal.

POWER: Uses standard, 9V, negative tip pedal power.

Angler Bass Overdrive - NOS 1997 & 2026

The Original Angler Bass OD is Available Again!!

The Angler is back from the dead!  This was a Bass OD/Distortion I built in 1997, and was pretty well liked by a number of Bass players.  At the time, I was not able to meet the demand and that basically killed the demand.  So I figured I'd wait 29 years and try again.  There are a small number of units that will use the original electronics, but with new enclosures.  Where small == 7 or 8 units.  This is the original 3 knob unit with the fixed mix of clean to OD.  When the NOS 1997 units are gone, I'll replace them with a 2026 version that is as close as I can make it to the original, but with an update.  There will be a "MIX" pot to allow you to add the clean signal back to whatever level you like.  The 2026 version is in the prototype stage now and should be ready for sale soon.  There is no internal battery connection inside and all units will be able to operate at +9V or +12V.

I continue to assemble these units in my garage, a few at a time.

Anglers can be ordered from the DredgeTone Reverb Site soon

Hot Tübs!!! - CMOS Logic ICs in a Distortion Box. WCPGW?

Recreating My Early Days

 This is a one-off  of the EHX Hot Tubes clone.  The PCB is from AION FX, and the  parts and assembly are all Dredge.  My first ever Fuzz/Distortion box  when I learned guitar as a kid was the original, EH Hot Tubes.  The one  in the Chrome plated MemoryMan box and a 2 prong death cord to plug into a wall socket.  I loved the sounds that I got from that pedal and my Solid State QSC 1x12 combo amp.  Anyway, I built 2 of these recently for fun.  I'm keeping #1, and #2 sold after 1 day on my Reverb Site.  I made a mistake on the front lettering.  It should have been Hot Tübs.  I might make more, but with my own PCB layout  and a fix of the naming on the box.

Please get in touch if you think you might want one of these units.

Puante Fromage - Cheesy Goodness

Another Fuzzy One-Off

This is a one-off clone of the LoveTone Big Cheese.

The PC board is from AION FX, but there are a few changes to the circuit and parts to make it more Dredgy.  I've never heard a Big Cheese, so I don't know if it really sounds like the original pedal, but the fuzz part of the circuit reminds me a bit of the circuit in the Foxx Tone Machine, which I absolutely love.  The BC, flat out, has a way better tone circuit (the same topology tone stack I put in my Angler pedal in 1997 but tuned for guitar and with way more flexibility) and an extremely clever way of doing the clipping by using the EB and CB junctions of an NPN transistor in the signal path.  Also, the "Cheese" setting is catastrophic sounding and yet a bit beautiful.  Kudos to the LoveTone circuit genius!    I think I love this pedal more than my attempt to put an FTM in a tiny box (yeah, I only made one of those too and it was my go to Fuzz for 20 years).

I built 2 of these, and plan to keep #1.  #2 should end up on my Reverb site soon.  I might make a few more, but with my own layout of the PCB, and a few circuit changes to get a bit more sensitivity in the Mold setting.

Please get in contact if you are interested in one.
